Over 1000 workers from clothing factory on strike


Over 1000 workers from clothing factory demonstrated in peace walk for raising the minimum wages. The factory is owned by a Korean MYUE & SUE, is one factory of Hlaing Thayar industrial zone, Yangon Division. One striker said, “The side of employer used to threaten to fire us from work when we demanded. Our manager also threaten that he will make us not to get any job at any factories if we are still on strike and we will be unemployment” But we believe we will not be unemployment on our land.” “It is the first time of big striking. They are demonstrating without getting permissions. It is infringement of the law. We will dismiss them after negotiation with the employer”, said the police officer, Mayangone Township. All workers have at least over 4 years work experiences at that clothing factory but get maximum salary only 50,000 kyats. Therefore, they are demanding to get over 80,000 kyats.
