Farmers strike continually to win back their seized lands



About 2000 protestors from province of Latpathaung Mountain range in Sagaing division demanded to get back their seized lands by local authority confiscated their lands.
They are demanding peacefully to get their land back singing national song with Burmese musical instruments. It is like Sayar San’s revolts, farmer leader of anti-British rebellion of 1930-32 in Myanmar. It didn’t happen any conflicts between the protectors and about 150 securities police even though protectors were being watched by the police. A local people said “we will be keep demanding to get our lands back”.
“These are our lands which are since our great grandfather worked on these farmlands and owned. But now the authority grabbed our lands and has imposed curfew under the section of 144.Therefore, we will be farming on our own lands every day. There was no negotiation with farmers and they set up many signboards of no farming on each farmland. However it is, we will be keep doing repeatedly” said a villager.
Around 7800 acres of farmlands from 26 villages near latpataung mountain range were confiscated for copper mine project which will be led together by Union of Myanmar Economic Holding Co,Ltd and Wan Bao company from China.
