Yaung Chi Oo Workers Association helped five workers who were dismissed from their jobs to get compensations

On 10th of July 2013, five workers from Choke Pi Wa factory (in Mae Sot, Thailand) demanded increased daily wages, but the employer fired them as a response.The workers got 150 Baht/day, but that is not enough for them. The workers wanted to get 180 Baht/day.The employer didn’t increase the wages and then he fired them from their jobs.Later, the workers appealed to the employer not to fire them, but the employer ignored their appeal.The workers asked the employer if they could stay one night at the factory, but he called two policemen by phone and kicked out the workers from the factory.Then, the workers came and asked for help from the Yaung Chi Oo Workers Association.YCOWA gave legal aid to the workers and sent them to the Labor Protection Office.The Labor Protection Office negotiated with the workers and the employer and it decided that the workers should get 40,500 Baht as compensation.On 12th of July 2013, the employer gave the compensation to the workers in the Labor Protection Office.
